noorsaab for Cartier

March 17, 2016

We are proud to have been commissioned by Cartier to design a bespoke scarf around the theme of Peace - Salam, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Cartier Women's Initiative Awards (CWIA).

The CWIA aims to encourage women entrepreneurs from around the world who are starting up their businesses, through the organisation of an annual international business plan competition, where winners are awarded invaluable support by the organisation.

Cartier chose to hold the commemoration during the Global Women’s Forum in Dubai last February 2016, a high-profile event that gathers an elite group of women from around the world who are leaders in their fields. The forum took place for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa.

On this historic occasion, a group of pioneering and inspirational women received one of three exclusive noorsaab scarves. Each scarf was designed with an inspiration from a quote on peace by one of three iconic women who have been instrumental in spreading peace around the world: Aung San Suu Kyi, Rosa Parks, and Mother Teresa.

The pattern of these scarves is constructed using the word ‘Salam’, written in contemporary Arabic calligraphy, and multiplied through an unfolding and cyclical repetition of colourful geometric shapes. The final design is an abstract visual representation of the potential for women's empowerment to help bring peace to a region suffering from continuous political instability.

We are grateful for the wonderful opportunity Cartier has provided through this bespoke commission and look forward to a renewed collaboration in the future.

Here are some testimonials about this collaboration from Cartier:
